Tehran - Iran has brought 1,862 technology-based products into agricultural production since 2022, benefiting more than 122,000 farmers and other agricultural producers, a senior agricultural official says.

Abolfazl Faraji, deputy head of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO) and head of its Agricultural Education and Extension Institute, said the initiative aims to accelerate the transfer of innovations developed by knowledge-based and technology companies to farms and other agricultural production units.

The initiative is intended to boost productivity and advance knowledge-based agriculture by connecting technological innovation with practical farming needs, he added.

Faraji said the institute has worked to combine the capabilities of technology companies, the scientific expertise of AREEO’s research institutes and centers, and the experience of leading farmers to facilitate the effective adoption of modern agricultural technologies.

He also highlighted plans to establish 2,000 model farms, describing the initiative as a key mechanism for bridging scientific research and practical experience while demonstrating innovative technologies under real-world production conditions.

Reviewing the institute’s performance since 2022, Faraji said 1,148 knowledge-based companies had expressed readiness to cooperate and received the institute’s approval. During the same period, 1,862 technology-based products were introduced for use in agricultural production, benefiting 122,330 producers.

In the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year, 97 knowledge-based companies supplied 120 types of technology-based products to the agricultural sector, reaching 5,305 producers, he added.

Faraji expressed hope that continued collaboration and wider adoption of modern technologies would raise agricultural productivity, strengthen production capacity, and accelerate the transition to sustainable, knowledge-based farming.
